Raleigh-Apex NAACP Supports Pasquotank County NAACP Call for Justice

Pasquotank County Sheriff’s deputy fatally shot Andrew Brown Jr.

Yesterday, the Raleigh-Apex NAACP reached out to Pasquotank County NAACP President Keith Rivers and let him know we’re here to assist with anything they need in the Pasquotank County Sheriff’s deputy fatally shooting Andrew Brown Jr.

“If the Sheriff’s department was wearing their body cameras. If the body cameras were on, that information needs to be disseminated as quickly as possible in order to make sure justice is served,” Rivers said. “And also, if there was any wrongdoing. The community has a right to know.”

“Violence with a firearm is out of control in America,” President Gerald Givens, Jr., Raleigh-Apex NAACP said.  “In 2020, armed violence killed 20,000 Americans and 24,000 killed themselves with firearms. We know that police shootings are a serious portion of our gun violence epidemic and now is the time for America to do something about deaths caused by police firearms. And as a board member of North Carolinians Against Gun Violence, I’ll continue to do all I can to keep us all safe.”
