Gerald D. Givens, Jr
Gerald D. Givens, Jr. is the President, Raleigh-Apex National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) covering Apex, Cary, Fuquay-Varina, Garner, Holly Springs, Morrisville, and Raleigh; consisting of about 900,000 residents. Mr. Givens presides over the branch and Executive Committee meetings. He served on the National NAACP Election Supervisory Committee and Chaired the North Carolina NAACP Election Procedures Committee. Mr. Givens is the Chair of the Wake County Community Remembrance Project. He serves on the North Carolinians Against Gun Violence and the North Carolina Transit Workers board of directors. He is the Secretary of the Rotary Club of All Nations and also serves as the Treasurer of the newly formed RISE North Carolina Small Business Owners. A native of St. Louis, Mo; attended Lincoln Univerisity (HBCU) and the Art Institute of San Antonio. Mr. Givens is a United States Air Force veteran of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, retired with 20 years of honorable service as a Protocol Officer in the Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) Agency, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. After retirement, Mr. Givens started his second career as a Project Manager at St. Peter-St. Joseph’s Children’s Home (St. PJ’s), San Antonio, Texas. His son is a graduate of the HBCU Jackson State University. His daughter is studying abroad in Australia for Industrial Design. He’s married to Jennifer, a University of Florida graduate and a Raleigh, North Carolina, native.
